An Early Valentine's Present? New Boat!
February 9, 2002

Audubon purchased a new boat for the Sundown Island Warden, Chester Smith. It is a Hydra Sport, 23 foot walk-around boat, delivered Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2002. Click on the picture for a larger view.

Jesse Grantham and five King Fisher Marine crew came down and took it to Sundown Island on Monday, February 10th. Chester reported that the water was a bit rough, but the new "Egret III" did great.

They discussed starting the proposed dredging project soon. Sand will be pumped on the north east end of the island.

They found Herons and Egrets already nesting. Chester said they are about a month ahead of schedule, and predicts a great year for the birds.
