Recruiting volunteers! The Spring 2008 Workday is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2008.

The tractor was fixed during a previous visit to the island and we are hoping to get the windmill fixed before workday. We will mow paths before Workday to make it easier for volunteers to move around the island. Workday will include the usual, planting new seedling trees, spraying for fire ants, beach clean-up
and fertilizing and weeding the current tree plots. One special project will include dismantling the ladder from the tower and placing it back on the viewing platform located near the shed.

Can anyone provide an extra boat to transport volunteers to the island? Please call Chester and let him know.

Lunch will be provided for the volunteers.

Come prepared for a hot, cold, warm, windy day. Don't forget hats and sunscreen. We never know what to expect. We will have to wade to the shore, so bring a change of shoes and socks or your favorite wading boots.

We will meet at Clark's Restaurant and Marina in Port O'Connor at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008. For more information about workday and the location of Clark's Marina, click here.

Call or e-mail Chester Smith to let him know that you are planning to volunteer for the Spring Workday! Be sure to try both telephone numbers.
