Bruce Mickle, from King Fisher Marine, reported that
they have been dredging the GIWW and pumping sand on to Sundown
Island. They have pumped approximately 180,000 cubic yards to the
east end of the island, between the Geotubes.
They started pumping at the edge of the existing high
ground to raise the elevation of the east end of the island.
Erosion is a never-ending problem on Sundown Island
because of its location near busy shipping channels. To view more
