Concrete MatsConcrete mats/dredge fill

During 2001-02, King Fisher Marine was contracted by the Army Corps of Engineers (Galveston District) to place more Intercoastal Waterway dredge fill on the island, increasing the size of the island by approximately 15 acres.

Concrete MatsIn addition they are installing concrete mats on the North east edge of the island to help control erosion of the bird sanctuary. King Fisher was working on the concrete mat installation during the November workday.

King Fisher Marine has been very supportive of the sanctuary effort by supplying barges and crew boats on many occasions to transport equipment, supplies and volunteers to the island.
